Every day the FBI’s Cybercrime unit receives and investigates issues related to breaches on corporate email systems, which begs the question as to why companies continue to use this solution for transferring private data and other files. Emailing systems are a great resource when you need to share information efficiently and quickly. However, email programs are full of holes when it comes to sending confidential and highly sensitive information.
As a web-based application, Document Security Suites is impervious to cyber-intrusion …
just one great reason to get started today.
The original FTP specification is an inherently unsecure method of transferring files because there is no method specified for transferring data in an encrypted fashion. This means that under most network configurations, user names, passwords, FTP commands and transferred files can be captured by anyone on the same network using a packet sniffer. It has been widely accepted that FTP is the simplest way for organizations to send data across the Internet. To enhance security, many companies now use sFTP or FTP/S, the "secure" forms of FTP, believing that data traveling across this protocol is safe. But is it?
It's true that secure forms of FTP have additional encryption while commands and data are in transit across the Web. But it's commonly overlooked that while files are indeed secure during transit, they are still extremely vulnerable for the period of time they reside at the Internet-facing, final point of handoff at the edge of the receiving network. Due to limited Internet bandwidth and large file sizes, it will always take some amount of time for this final transfer because a software program or script at the receiving end must wait for the download to be complete before securing the entire file inside the interior firewall.
The rooms on DSS are secure at all times, and files are encrypted every step of the way.
Replace email and FTP with Document Security Suites, the safe, reliable, protected mechanism to secure and deliver sensitive information. DSS is the seamless, manageable and cost-efficient means of transferring confidential content, private information
and very large files over the Internet.
